Brandi

Today at 5 pm, March 16, we had to put Brandi to sleep.  Her lungs filled with fluid and she could not breath.  Though we kept praying for and wanting just one more day. It was time.
We enjoyed spoiling Brandi for the short ten months she was with us.  We thought we were the ones giving to her, yet she left us with so much more then we were able to give her.  She taught us to live each day as if it could be our last, to take the time to enjoy the small things in life.  Such as food, belly rubs and play time.

Brittany Teegarden, a very talented partner of ours from the Pendleton County Humane Society, put together a video for all abused dogs.   Please help us eliminate all the Brandi's and Dusty's in the world.  Please tell all your friends and family not to breed or buy while shelter animals suffer and die.

Brandi was put over the fence of one of our volunteer's home.
Brandi is a classic example of a backyard breeder. She was bred
until she developed mammary tumors and when she could not
feed puppies any longer she was dropped like a piece of trash.
Brandi has an enlarged heart. She has responded well to her medications and seldom has a coughing spell. But, we do not
know if she has 3 months or 3 years to live. She is on restricted activity for the rest of her life. She is enjoying the life of a
normal, spoiled house pet and will for the rest of her days with
us.

This picture of Brandy shows how big her mamory tumors are.  They are getting bigger everyday.  There is no way to take them off now.  Had she been taken to ghe doctor when she was supplying all those puppies for the backyard breeder think how much more comfortable she would be now.  Calculating low, we figure that Barndy probably made them between 20 to 25 thousand dollars in the five years she served them.   Not even worth a trip to the doctor.  How many people would have bought one of her puppies if they could have seen their mom?   Please let all your friends know that if they must buy from a breeder please make sure you see mom and dad.
