Echo

Update on Echo, January 30, 2010
Echo has been in her forever home for three months.  For christmas she gave us all a thrill by going to potty outdoors for the first time.  Echo was so lucky that she found a home that accepts her and understands her for what and who she is.  If you are considering adopting a puppy mill dog, reading about Echo and her progress will give you an ideal of what you might expect in the months after you bring your forever buddy home.

Echo - Echo is going on three years old.  She is not ready for her forever home yet unless the home has previous puppy mill dog experience.  She will let you walk up and pet her but will run if you try to pick her up.  Baths and grooming have to be done with a muzzle.  Echo has not bitten anyone but will try to go after the razor or brush and could get a finger.  Echo and Ashleigh are buddies.  They are both puppy mill dogs and neither of them have learned to trust humans yet.

Update 9-2-2009  Echo picked up a toy and played for the first time today.  We actually chewed on a bone like a dog!!!  Hooray for you Echo.

Update 9- 22-2009  Echo seems to be coming out more each day.  She is staying out fo the crate and laying in the middle of the floor.  She explores some of her room mates but does not play a lot yet.  The main thing is she is starting to get curious about her surrounding and losing her fear to be outside a crate.

Echo

Great news for Echo.  She has found a wonderful family who has been waiting for her for a couple of months now.  But today, for the first time she let them hold her and play with her.  She is almost ready to go to her forever home.  She is getting used to being picked up.  This week she will get her medical work done and within two weeks she will be in her forever home.

Hi Carol!

Just thought I'd pass along a progress report.  ECHO PEE'D OUTSIDE TONIGHT!!!!!!!  It was cause for celebration around here!!  And I knew you'd want to know.

I also think she's getting more territorial toward "her people".  We've started putting Fritz in the bed with us to keep him from getting his butt kicked at night by Echo and that's worked out well...til now.  Sat. and Sun. nights, Chris and I found large pee spots in the middle of our bed.  We know for sure it's not Fritz pee'ing at night and he can't get on the bed without being picked up.  So, "somebody" has been getting on the bed and pee'ing right in the middle of it...which just happens to be where Fritz sleeps!  hahaha!  She's coming around!!  You'd think we'd be upset over it, but we were glad because it means she's claimed us as hers!!!

We still have the leash on her collar so that we can get her without chasing her down, but she seems more receptive to being picked up and handled.  Echo and Gracie are just a hoot to watch together!  Last night when we got home from church, Gracie went upstairs and Echo greeted her with a bark and a tail wiggle!!!  She loves Gracie so much...you would cry to see them together.

That's about it for now!  Sorry it's been so long, but there just hasn't been anything new to tell.  Hope you're having a great CHRISTmas season!

Blessings,
Angie
