Apply for Adoption
If you would like to meet a dog that you are considering adopting, we REQUIRE you to first fill out an application. Please read below for ALL the details. Applicants must be 21 years of age and live within our adoption radius.
LFM has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs. We do not operate under a first-come, first-served model.
As an all-volunteer organization, it may take up to a week or two before everything is finalized. Please know we do our best to process adoption applications as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience in the process!
Visits to meet available pets are by appointment only and an application is required before we will set up an appointment. This saves both us and you time by allowing us to check your references and get your application approved before your visit is scheduled. Once you are approved to adopt, we will set up an appointment.
If you are planning on meeting an adoptable dog at at adoption event, please submit your application ahead of the adoption event you plan to attend so we have time to review it prior to the event. This is important as we do not do same-day adoptions. Also, be sure we know you are coming to see a particular dog. We do not have enough volunteers to bring all dogs to events.
LuvFurMutts reserves the right to deny any application. We will let you know whether your application is approved or denied.

Adoption Radius
We do not adopt dogs to adopters that live further than three hours out of our area (*also note, on some particular dogs, we do not adopt to adopters that live further than an hour out of our area, such as puppies that may need to come back for vetting and would be noted in the dog's bio).
We define our area as a 3 hour drive time from West Chester, OH 45069 according to Google Maps (not based on how fast you can drive the distance). If you are not sure if you are further than four hours or not, please use our map below for your convenience. This rule is for the safety of our dogs – we need to be sure we can get our dogs back quickly in the event an adoption doesn't work out.

Adoption Fees
Our adoption donation is $200 and is tax-deductible.
LFM does not charge higher fees for purebred dogs, puppies, or dogs that have had extraordinary medical expenses that far exceed the $200 adoption fee – we depend on donations to help us cover those costs.
We accept cash or checks made payable to "LuvFurMutts Rescue".

FAQ
To view our frequently asked questions, please look at our FAQ's!
"Dear potential dog adopters:
Cheers for you! So excited you've decided to give an adoptable pup a second (or even a third) chance at a happy home. If you're new to the process, you may have a lot of questions and not be sure what you want in a dog.
If there is one special dog that catches your eye, wonderful! Apply for him or her, but keep in mind that a lot goes on behind the scenes. Most rescues look for best match, and sometimes that's not you. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you or your household, it just means that maybe the dog really loves kids, and you're a single adult, AND someone else applied who has two kids. OR - vice versa! Dogs will sometimes have quirks that don't show in their bio, or it would be three pages long, and those attributes may influence the rescue's choice. So don't get your heart absolutely set on the first dog.
But as you're going through the canine adoption process ... please don't "hedge your bets" by applying to multiple rescues at the same time. Each rescue has its own reviewing procedures, which take time and manpower. For small rescues, this can be a big burden. It's all worth it when we can make a perfect match, but if an apps worker calls the vet, calls references, double-checks property ownership (and they really do all these things!) ... only to contact the potential adopter to a response of, "Sorry, adopted from another rescue!" ... that's time that could have been spent finding another dog their forever home.
LuvFurMutts is unusual in that the foster parent is involved in choosing the adopter, and I can't tell you how heartbreaking it is when you see the perfect home - amazing! - for the dog you've cared for for weeks (if not months) and get so excited ... only to find out they've moved on.
Things happen, of course, but you'll have years of wonderful friendship with your new companion. You don't need to rush the process of adoption."
